Rudy Ruiz is the co-founder of Interlex and serves as its President and Chief Creative Officer.
Prior to launching Interlex in 1995, Rudy Ruiz earned his BA with honors in Government at Harvard College and his Masters in Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School.
A lifelong writer, as well as a composer of music, Rudy Ruiz was inspired by his experiences growing up along the US-Mexico border as well as by his education and training at Harvard to develop a unique vehicle for the marriage of creativity, cultural insights and social advocacy.
Rudy Ruiz's passion and vision was shared by Interlex co-founder, Heather Ruiz, an award-winning graphic designer and Art Director with a passion for helping others. Together they started Interlex with the unique mission to help our clients make a positive impact in the lives of diverse audiences.
From the onset, Rudy Ruiz has enjoyed working hands-on with our clients and staff to create innovative and culturally meaningful communications that meet client goals via measurable results while making the world a better place. He is also committed to pioneering new ways of thinking about multicultural marketing, minority outreach, and social marketing. This commitment is evidenced in the numerous proprietary models, tools and techniques he has innovated for use by Interlex clients in the areas of advocacy marketing, issues marketing, corporate social marketing, public health communications, multicultural communications, cause-related marketing and branding strategy.
One such technique – pioneered by Rudy Ruiz – in the mid 90's is transcreation. Transcreation involves a process that adapts messages based on cultural values and priorities for multicultural communications to maximize cultural relevancy and response. Rudy Ruiz has always encouraged Interlex clients to “transcreate” rather than “translate.”
A frequent speaker on issues involving minority outreach and multicultural communications, Rudy Ruiz expanded his advocacy work beyond Interlex with the publication of his first book, “¡Adelante!” by Random House in 2003. The book is a guide to success in America for immigrants.
For his commtment to advocacy marketing and multicultural communications with a social marketing focus, Rudy Ruiz and Interlex have received countless accolades. The National Hispanic Institute hailed Rudy Ruiz as “a cultural visionary.” Rudy Ruiz's work as the agency's Chief Creative Officer has yielded numerous awards for our clients, including Telly, Davey, Summit and Addy Awards.
For six consecutive years, Rudy Ruiz and Interlex have been ranked among the Hispanic Entrepreneur 100, a listing of the nation's 100 fastest-growing Hispanic-owned companies. Currently, the agency is ranked among the Top US Agencies Across All Disciplines by industry trade magazine Advertising Age.
