Our History. Our Journey.

Our journey is still evolving. Just as the face of America is constantly changing, so too is our model for best engaging it. But, of course, all stories have a beginning. Ours was on a roadtrip, described fluidly by our Creative Director in a poem which has been a part of our literature since our founding.

interlex...an advertising boutique...a dream born on a cross-country quest. san antonio...san francisco...sans dinero. an endless desert highway...nothing but static on the AM. tumbleweed. a borrowed car...a slew of maxed credit cards...a resumé never-sent and a couple of harvard degrees patching the holes in the ragtop. pen and paper...a list of discarded ideas...pump gas...flip burgers for ronald...start a band and tour the world... make a split-level beach house from a cardboard box. make something out of nothing. draw pretty pictures ...write pretty words...sing catchy jingles...and hire all the nerds. film the color...catch the light... bridge the nations...work all night. live...dare the dream...reach their hearts and touch their souls. just you...just us...and some cold hard cash. this is the moment to make something out of nothing...hit the road...and save the world.

 
It actually began in 1995, when Rudy and Heather Ruiz combined their creative and strategic talents to launch Interlex. Rudy Ruiz drew on a background in public policy and international relations as well as creative writing and music composition. Heather was driven by a desire to apply her art direction, graphic design and mass communications background towards work that she could feel good about, work that made a positive difference in her community. Interlex was born as the result of their creative and professional union. And since then, the agency has refined its vision, built a formidable team, amassed a prestigious client roster, and grown into a national leader in our niche.
